About Wopilo
Wopilo, now a 12-person eCommerce merchant, started in 2017, aiming to create comfortable and customizable pillows that make for a good night’s sleep. They’re serious about their clever tagline: “Let’s sleep together!”
The Challenge
The Wopilo team needed a sensible, simplified means of accurately tracking conversions. Ultimately, they wanted to see better acquisition results. Thomas Hervet, CEO of Wopilo, explains, “I work closely with our CMO and we knew 2 years ago that we were missing data just using native Shopify reporting – the numbers just weren’t adding up. I discovered Elevar’s blog which helped me learn more about the nuances of conversion tracking, analytics, and Google Tag Manager.” Wopilo’s business was scaling, and they needed better data to guide their ad spend efforts.
The Wopilo team knew they needed to address:
- Not capturing approximately 20% of their conversion data
- Google Analytics (GA) data not matching up with Shopify
- Needing a better data layer, knowing there was one out there
The Solution
Thomas did some research and decided to contact Elevar. He said, “I know that we can have a better data layer and a better solution than just native Shopify data.” And so the team put Elevar’s Server-Side tracking to work for them. As a small company, “We don’t have a data scientist team at work. We’re very operational, and we don’t have hours and hours to spend analyzing data,” says Thomas. But with Elevar in place, the Wopilo team was able to see the data they’d been missing, and confidently optimize their return on ad spend (ROAS) as they scaled.
Results
Today, says Thomas, “We use Shopify, Google, Facebook, and Elevar’s data, so in theory, we have a good mix between quantitative and qualitative information.” And the team has been able to:
- Recoup lost data, seeing 99%+ accuracy with server-side tracking
- See accurate data across platforms
- Implement and utilize a better data layer
Thomas is quick to say “I’m a little bit of a perfectionist and want my data to be as clean as possible. I’m quite confident with the quality and reliability of Elevar data we see now, and I recommend it to other eCommerce businesses in France.”
