How is this different than native Shopify + Facebook integration?

Elevar sends more conversions to Facebook than the native app through our webhook integration. Plus Elevar sends both the fbc and fbp cookie values that Facebook uses to match ads back to conversions. The native app does not send either of these values.

Do I need to have a GTM account to use Elevar's Data Layer?

No. It’s completely up to you. If you want to use tags in Google Tag Manager, then yes. If you just want to use Elevar Server-Side tracking, then you do not.
