How to Set Up Rakuten via Google Tag Manager

📘

The Rakuten App does not allow you to separate use of the Catalog vs the Pixel in the app. You can either use another software for your Rakuten Feed Management like GoDataFeed or continue to use the native app for your Rakuten tracking.

STEPS TO IMPLEMENT

Step 1: Overview

Without a single line of code and done in minutes, Elevar helps you implement your Rakuten Conversion Tracking Tag for Shopify stores through Google Tag Manager using the most up-to-date requirements from each platform.

Plus – these templates come with built-in monitoring so you’re the first to know when a tag breaks and risks impacting your campaigns.

This integration supports the standard conversion tracking available with your Rakuten Advertising account.

Rakuten is a global cash-back shopping experience for consumers to shop, spend, and earn rewards. Brands can list products for shoppers to explore and purchase. Learn more about Rakuten Ads here.

Step 2: Install Your Data Layer

Install Elevar's Data Layer on your store [Plus Shopify Store Guide] [Non-Plus Shopify Store Guide] or ensure you are on Elevar's 2.0 Data Layer Version

Step 3: Download Container for GTM

NOTE: Rakuten App does not allow you to separate use of the Catalog vs the Pixel in the app. You can either use another software for your Rakuten Feed Management like GoDataFeed or continue to use the native app for your Rakuten tracking.

Step 7: [Optional] Setup product feed

Any app that creates a fetchable/sendable GMC compatible feeds will be acceptable. Speak with Rakuten about this and ensure you've removed the Rakuten app from your Shopify store if this was your legacy method of tracking. Also ensure that your product feed product ids match what you've chosen to send for product identifiers in your Elevar app.
